Who was BD King?

BD King Press...

I came from a small railroad town in southwest Ohio. Morrow was split down the middle with a railroad track and was bordered on two sides by rivers, The Little Miami and Todd's Fork. In the 40's and early 50's, it was a pleasant place to live. Morrow would have reminded you of a Dutch village, where all the necessities are in walking distance, and where everyone knows who is doing who.

BD King was the police chief of Morrow. BD was a walking fire plug with a Colt .45 on his hip. BD would fit into those "don't do's"; like don't pee into the wind or don't spit on the sidewalk. You didn't screw with BD.

BD ruled with some degree of finesse, but occasionally he would forget himself, and indulge a bit too much. Normally, this would present no problem, but on occasion, while under the influence, BD would target practice.

One night, practice was on a Crosley refrigerator, that just happened to be in the window of Carroll's hardware store. On another, it was a Gary Moore action figure advertising Philco radios. Shot that sucker dead.

My uncle Orville had a barber shop that faced the railroad tracks and he and my aunt Ruth lived in an apartment above it. The apartment had a bay window on the living room which hung over the sidewalk three or four feet.

Late on a summer evening, my aunt heard BD yelling and she leaned out the window to investigate. BD was chasing a felon down the railroad tracks. As fire plugs don't run well, BD gave a final warning and drew his single action Colt .45, took careful aim, and shot my aunt Ruth in the ass.

Now, this has nothing to do why this company is called BD King Press. The reason is BD King was illiterate.
